About Me
I’m Kamakshi, a Dubai-based artist working at the intersection of abstract expression and figurative art. My work is shaped by the contrast of light and shadow, the quiet in-between moments, and the human form partially revealed and partially withheld.
My practice is grounded in realism, but I use it as a starting point rather than an end. I’m less interested in capturing a likeness and more focused on what sits beneath expression, the tension, memory, and emotion that are not immediately visible.
Growing up in culturally layered environments has shaped how I approach identity, femininity, and inheritance. These themes come through in my work through bold brushstrokes, layered color, and subtle symbolic details that are not always immediately visible, but reveal themselves over time.
There is a deliberate balance in my work between structure and abstraction. I build form through realism and then disrupt it, allowing strength and vulnerability to coexist within the same frame.
